Lake Kerinci is located on Mount Seven (Gunung Tujuh), which is the highest caldera lake in Southeast Asia. Besides the existence of Lake Kerinci, which is the second largest after Lake Toba in North Sumatra. And there are several other small lakes with a unique natural beauty. Seven Mountain Lake is a caldera lake formed by volcanic activity in the past. At an altitude of 1996 m above sea level, this lake is the highest lake in Southeast Asia. The lake is often covered in fog with an average temperature of 17 0C. Lake Area of 960 ha with a length of ± 4.5 km and width ranging from 3 km. The lake is surrounded by seven mountains, the Upper Mount Tebo (2525 meters), Mount Hulu Sangir (2330 m), Madura Iron Mountain (2418 m), Mount moss-covered various types of mosses (2350 m), Mount Basil (2230 m) , Mount Jar Bake (2469 m), and Mount Seven (2735 m).
Seven mountain lakes known as Lake Kerinci Sakti by the community. Lake water always looks clean even the leaves were not found although there are many fallen trees on the edge of the lake. Seven Mountain Lake is a source of livelihood for some villagers. There are several huts alongside a lake that is used by fishermen as a residence. Everyday the fishermen catch fish by boat and fish trap, fish trap morning mounted in the middle of the lake later in the afternoon fish trap is removed.

The lake is situated in the village of Kayu Aro Pelompek District with a distance of ± 56 km from the River Full. To enjoy the beauty and coolness of air Seven Lakes Mountain visitors must walk through the trail for 2-3 hours.
